Jerusalem to Kibbutz Hatzerim

Last night was amazing! Just to be with Rayna, FREE AT LAST from army service, and in Jerusalem...such joy!

We walked from our hotel, Ramada Inn, to Mamilla, ate dinner Rimon, then shopped a little in Michal Negrin's store, and at last accompanied Steve through the Armenian Quarter to the Kotel. Lots of people there, Iguess bc of the 9 days of Tisha B'av. Steve prayed on the men's side, and I said my own prayers and touched the wall, hoping God will say yes.

This morning I swam in the hotel pool for 45 mins., and then we pigged out on an amazing Israeli breakfast. I even had a made to order omelette.

Rayna took us (via cab, her usual transport method) to Machane Yehuda, where we bought key chains, wine, fresh pomegranate juice, marzipan (YUCK, just for Rayna, too sweet)and met Tali Rosen and her husband, who is in the army.

Rayna's kibbutz is gorgeous - beautiful - so green and lovely - huge pool, and we have a lovely guest house, 3 rooms, to stay in.

Can't wait to enjoy shabbat with her tonight here.

Julz 21 2011

We took lots of trains today from Lauterbrunnen to Zermatt. We made the switch w 5 minutes to spare.

After arriving at our hotel Touring, we ate a picnic lunch - stopping at a bakery on the way - steve had something with lots of creme in it. Then we set out on a train that went up through the mountain beginning, followed by a hike and tons of downhill. how lazy we are...

Dinner was delish delish.... vegetarian soup, salad, collard greens with vegetable pancakes and potatoes au gratin, followed by ice cream.

Day 6 Steves Birthday

Todaz is Steves bday.

Breakfast was delish... the yogurts and cheese amazing, and this time there were scrambled eggs, also red colored hard boiled eggs.

peter, lorraine, Graham and lynnette went up to jungfraujoch, and karen, Rupert, Steve, and I went on a walk with john. First we took a cable car toGrutschalp, 1489 m. Then we walked to murren, 1645 meters. Then we had continued on in the rain to Gimmelwald. From there we descended in more rain to Stechelberg, 910 meters. We had lunch, Steve a fennel soup with red pepper, and me a delish sandwich w chutney.

Then we continued downhill, very steeply, past the Staubbach waterfalls - and we went up to view them more closelz - toLauterbrennan. By the time we arrived at our hotel, stopping at the coop for apples, choc., and a roll, we were dead tired.

Day 5

julz 19 2011

We took the train to Alpiglen, and walked 400 meters uphill to Kleine Sheidigg, 6761 ft. There were tons of tourists there, and the jungfraujoch train to the top, which we didnt take.

it began to rain again. Some of the group went on walking to Wengen... Lorraine had a blister and she and Peter, as well as Patricia and Chris took the train to Lauterbrunnen, to our hotel the Silberhorn.

Steven and I hiked on the Eiger Path to the small museum near a lake. When you press a button, the different hikes up the Eiger lit up on a topographical map on the wall.

When it got too rainy, we took a train to Lauterbrunnen, stopping in Wengen for a quick walk. Most cars there are electric. AS we looked for the swimming pool and headed out of town, we saw some boys in the schoolyard playing an apple game. Then we continued on the wanderweg towards Kleine Sheidigg, and we met our hiking group - Peter, Lynnette, Karen, John, and Rupert. They were wet enough to also take the train to the Silberhorn.

Welove our hotel, our attic room, on the 4th floor walk up. It is big, with lovelz views, a porch, and a bathtub. Dinner was at the hotel, and it was delish -- great salad at ayummy salad bar, soup that was not vegetarian but thez gave up cantalope, o.j., and a curry dish w delish fresh fruit, like pineapple, apple, strawberry.
